The Grazing trail of King Island – 2 Day Escape

Itinerary

Your itinerary starts with your host meeting you on arrival. Let’s enjoy a coffee and a chance to get to know each other over a gourmet pie breakfast. Perhaps a camembert and asparagus or even a crayfish pie.

After breakfast your all terrain vehicle will take you onto the beach where you will gain an insight into the seaweed industry of King Island. Your guide will show you some of the natural garnishes that are used in the sea to table, paddock to plate experiences that you will share in whilst on King Island. From there we will take the old kelp track that leads us to the main crayfishing fleet and fishing co op.

We are joined by Donna who is a walking encyclopedia on the Rock Lobster Industry. We will be sharing a crayfish roll with Donna and a matched Tasmanian wine.

After lunch we visit the Frogshack Farm, a bushy food farm, where we will gather our garlic, one of the elements in our cooking demonstration.

Travelling onwards takes us through some of the the highest producing cattle country in the world. Your guide and local farmer talks to you about why King Island Beef is so sort after. Gathering more elements along the way to your cooking demonstration finally ending up at your accommodation, baggage drop off and straight into “aprons on “ where we will prepare this evenings canapés prior to our 5 course dining degustation experience over the evening. There are wines from every region that you may select from around Australia.

You will meet the new day with views over Bass Strait in preparation for your 4WD tour over 7th generation working cattle property of the Bowling Dynasty, which takes in amazing scenery, fauna and flora and no we haven’t left out the white table cloth morning tea and lunch in dramatic locations. This tour has won numerous awards for King Island Holiday Village & Tours, 13 in total. Also your dining venue – Wild Harvest– has been voted as NO.1 on Tripadvisor.
